A cause greater than ourselves is a cause worth fighting for. Lupus has affected many families, and has no cure.
1226 Studios walked with the team “Day After Christmas (12/26) in order to raise money for research. Below is a brief writeup from Chris Benjamin, 1226 Studios/Day After Christmas:
“Thank you for supporting our team, “Day After Christmas”. We are excited to participate as a team in the 2009 Washington DC Walk With Us to Cure Lupus Walkathon!
This team is dedicated to the memory of Katherine Victoria Robinson, our inspiration in Lupus Research and my mother. The name “Day After Christmas” is not only a reference to her born date, but also to the day that follows the most gift-giving day of the year. We need to remember that we dont need one day out of the year to remember those less fortunate, and it does not always have to be monetary!
We’ve chosen to walk as a team because teamwork can really make a difference in the funds we raise, and change some peoples lives in the process.
Last but not least, we’ve chosen to walk as a team to spend time together, and to have fun! Join me for an exciting and uplifting walk, and if you can’t be there in the physical, please donate to the cause!

It was pleasing to learn about what you are doing. I hope that you continue to be an advocate for your community and reach out for a cause that needs to be heard about and supported. Lupus has been affecting the African American community for a long time now; and I think it is a wonderful thing that you are able to gather your peer group together and get involved in such a dynamic cause. It is true the gift of hope last far longer than a day so with that said continue to build your community through outreach, being a stand up model for young black men and by always showing the love of God to other people through and by your actions. God bless you and your cause in the 2010 year!!!
